New Orleans Swamp and Bayou Tour -- You will experience the marshes, swamps, and bayous of Southern Louisiana on a swamp boat tour. Enjoy the history of the Cajun people, whose ancestors moved here from Nova Scotia more than two centuries ago.

After a short motorcoach ride across the Mississippi River, take a fascinating boat trip into the Louisiana swamps and bayous. Experience the timeless beauty of Southern Louisiana in a custom built, all weather swamp boat.

Native guides will reveal the mysteries of the swamps and bayous and the Cajun Cajun "joie de vivre". Hear how the Cajun's turned soup into gumbo, the washboard in a musical instrument, and the swamps of Louisiana into a paradise.

Observe the nesting grounds of alligators, egrets, raccoons, nutria, and many species of snakes. Some wildlife are more numerous during the warmer months of the year.

You will be treated to a Bayou Nature Wildlife Show by a local naturalist. Snakes, alligator snapping turtles, raccoons, and nutria will be among the animal guests.

Bring your camera to capture the "bon temps" (good times) on the bayou!

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Will we see Cypress Trees and Alligators?
~ Yes, tours are smack in the middle of the Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary (swamp country) that contains wetland suitable for the Bald Cypress and the Great Cypress. Tours are conducted on private property where there is no hunting allowed so expect to see alligators.

Q. What makes these tours outstanding?
~The tours have been conducted on private property for 12+ years. This means no competition in the area, less boat traffic to scare the animals, providing the most private tours possible. All of Captains are born and raised on the Bayou and you will travel through natural wetlands, swamp, and bayous through out the tour.

Q. When is the best time of year to take a Swamp or Airboat Tour?
~ Spring is incredible with all the animals doing what animals do. The trees and many flowers are in bloom and the nesting period for the waterfowl begins. Summertime is warm and humid which brings out the big Alligators and big birds like the Great Blue Herring and the White Egret. Fall is spectacular with very pleasant weather, an abundance of animals and beautiful foliage. Louisiana's mild winters are a great time of year also! Winter brings out the fur-bearing (fuzzy) animals, like Nutria, deer, mink, otters and the migratory birds and alligators are still present as long as it is not below freezing.

Q. Are mosquitoes a problem in the swamp?
~ No not really. During daylight hours you will have to search high and low to find one so they are not a concern. At dawn and dusk they can be present. However this swamp has a tidal flow so there are no stagnate waters that are the breeding ground for mosquitoes. It is suggested that you take precautionary measures with wearing or bringing mosquitoe repellent.

Q. Are there restrooms - food and drink on the tour boats?
Yes, the swamp boats have a restroom and snacks and drinks available. On the airboat there are no restrooms or food available but there are facilities at the swamp tour site and snacks available at the office.

This tour will NOT operate on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or Mardi Gras Day.
